ACP Midwinter National College Journalism Convention

ACP Midwinter National College Journalism Convention

March 1-3, 2018 | Hyatt Regency | Long Beach, California

Great sessions, great professionals and a great location

This year's Midwinter Convention is in Long Beach, California. Settled along five-and-a-half miles of sandy coastline, Long Beach is the quintessential getaway, boasting both the ambiance of a sophisticated urban center and the charm of a seaside community. Located 20 miles south of Los Angeles, California’s seventh largest city offers convention attendees a dynamic range of attractions, shopping, recreational activities, art and culture, restaurants and nightly entertainment that make it an ideal destination.

The convention will take a slightly different approach with the pre-convention sessions and the session tracks this year. View the full lineup of pre-convention workshops here.

Breakout session tracks will include: Three-Dimensional Coverage, Covering the Unimaginable, The New Student Media Model, Visual Journalism, Creativity, Reporting, Student Leadership, Career Development, Specialized Sessions and A Conversation With a Professional Journalist.

Besides the new offerings, we will have critiques, reviews, meet with a professional, meet with Bill Elsen (former editor at The Washington Post) and Best of Show awards. Pacemaker Finalists and Winners, for California students unable to make it to Dallas, will be presented at the Saturday general session.
